What the treatments gave - and what they didn't give

The Re-Mind treatment

Re-Mind is a medical treatment aimed at neuroinflammation – an inflammatory condition that can occur in the brain after, among other things, a concussion, a traumatic brain injury, a blood clot or bleeding in the brain or covid-19. The treatment is offered by Rehab-Partner | Neurologic Recovery Clinics and is supervised by the clinic's neurologist, Güven Gürbüz, specialist in neurology. He explains the background to the treatment:

"After a stroke, the brain tissue in and around the affected area can develop a persistent inflammatory reaction - neuroinflammation - which can contribute to late effects such as spasticity, reduced balance and motor control, brain fatigue and sleep disturbances. The Re-Mind treatment aims to dampen this inflammatory state. It is central to emphasize that the effect is individual and not predictable - and that for some patients the treatment can contribute to the improvement of certain symptoms without provide full functional recovery.”

The treatment is off-label. This means that an approved medicine is used for a purpose other than that for which the medicine was originally approved. All patients receive information about this and give informed consent.

You must know this before a treatment

Before a Re-Mind treatment, the patient undergoes a specialist medical assessment, a review of the medical history and screening blood tests. The treatment is only offered to patients who are assessed as suitable - and not everyone experiences an effect.

Any side effects are generally mild and transient: redness or itching at the injection site, a short-term sensation of fever without an actual fever or a light headache that typically lasts one day.
