How the Re-Mind treatment works
Re-Mind is a medical treatment aimed at neuroinflammation – an inflammatory condition that can occur in the brain after, among other things, a concussion, a traumatic brain injury, a blood clot or bleeding in the brain or covid-19. The treatment is offered by Rehab-Partner | Neurologic Recovery Clinics and is supervised by the clinic's neurologist, Güven Gürbüz, specialist in neurology. He explains the background to the treatment:
"A blood clot in the brain can leave the brain tissue in an inflammatory state - neuroinflammation - which can sustain late effects such as cognitive fatigue, difficulty concentrating and the feeling of brain fog that many patients describe. Reduced sense of touch and sensitivity disturbances in the arm and face can also be linked to continued inflammatory activity. The Re-Mind treatment is aimed at reducing this inflammation. The reaction to the treatment is individual, and the effect cannot be predicted in advance.”
The treatment is off-label. This means that an approved medicine is used for a purpose other than that for which the medicine was originally approved. All patients receive information about this and give informed consent.
You must know this before a treatment
Before a Re-Mind treatment, all patients undergo a mandatory specialist assessment, screening blood tests and a systematic review of the medical history. The treatment is only offered to patients who are assessed as suitable – and not everyone experiences an effect.
The side effects are generally mild: slight redness or itching at the injection site, a transient sensation of fever without an actual fever or a slight transient headache, typically lasting one day.
