Long COVID symptoms since 2022

Eva has lived with long COVID symptoms since 2022 – here she shares her experience with Re-Mind

Since mid-2022, Eva has been living with severe fatigue, brain fog, reduced memory and cognitive difficulties after covid-19. She describes a Re-Mind treatment as a turning point in her rehabilitation - but most symptoms are still pronounced.

"The treatment had an immediate effect in relation to brain fog. This meant, among other things, that I regained the ability to think clearly and was freed up energy to work more purposefully with rehabilitation."

"Most importantly, I got the feeling of being "me" back, so even though most symptoms are still (at the end of 2023) pronounced and have major consequences for my life, the treatment has has had an invaluable impact on my quality of life."

How the Re-Mind treatment works

Re-Mind is a medical treatment aimed at neuroinflammation – an inflammatory condition that can occur in the brain after, among other things, a concussion, a traumatic brain injury, a blood clot or bleeding in the brain or covid-19. The treatment is offered by Rehab-Partner | Neurologic Recovery Clinics and is supervised by the clinic's neurologist, Güven Gürbüz, specialist in neurology. He explains the background to the treatment:

"Covid-19 can in certain patients trigger a long-term neuroinflammatory condition that contributes to brain fog, severe fatigue and cognitive difficulties. The Re-Mind treatment aims to dampen this inflammation and thus create better conditions for rehabilitation. It is important to emphasize that the effect varies from patient to patient - and that for many the treatment does not lead to complete symptom freedom."

The treatment is off-label. This means that an approved medicine is used for a purpose other than that for which the medicine was originally approved. All patients receive information about this and give informed consent.

You must know this before a treatment

Before a Re-Mind treatment, the patient undergoes a mandatory specialist assessment, screening blood tests and a systematic review of the medical history. The treatment is only offered to patients who are deemed suitable – and not everyone experiences an effect.

Side effects are generally mild and transient: slight redness or itching at the injection site, a short-term sensation of fever without an actual increase in temperature or a slight transient headache, typically lasting one day.

Re-Mind is offered as a medical supplement to the other treatment and rehabilitation. You can sign up for an informational meeting at Neurologic Recovery Clinics to hear more.
