Severe concussion after accident

An accident changed Mette's life - here she talks about her Re-Mind treatment

An accident gave Mette a severe concussion and a significantly reduced quality of life. At an information meeting, she decided to try the Re-Mind treatment. Here she talks about her thoughts and her experience.

Mette's own story

Mette herself describes her thoughts and her experience as follows:

"At an information meeting in Skejby, I was convinced and made a quick decision. Now imagine if it works, I thought. The treatment focuses on removing the reason why my quality of life is significant However, I mentally prepared myself for failure on the day of the treatment so as not to be disappointed."

"Now I can happily say that it is the best decision I have made. Thanks to RN Clinic, which now makes it possible to receive treatment in Denmark."

How the Re-Mind treatment works

Re-Mind is a medical treatment that targets neuroinflammation - an inflammatory condition that can occur in the brain including a concussion, a traumatic brain injury, a blood clot or bleeding in the brain or covid-19. The treatment is offered by Rehab-Partner | Neurologic Recovery Clinics and is supervised by the clinic's neurologist, Güven Gürbüz, specialist in neurology. He explains the background to the treatment:

"After a severe concussion, the blood-brain barrier, which normally protects the brain, can become leaky. This can trigger a long-term inflammatory state in the brain, which we call neuroinflammation, which can manifest itself as, among other things, fatigue, headaches, cognitive problems and a reduced quality of life. The Re-Mind treatment is aimed at reducing this inflammation. It is important to emphasize that patients do not respond to the treatment in the same way, and that the effect, among other things, depends on how much of the symptoms are due to inflammation.”

The treatment is off-label. This means that an approved medicine is used for a purpose other than that for which the medicine was originally approved. All patients receive information about this and give informed consent.

You must know this before a treatment

Before a Re-Mind treatment, you undergo a mandatory specialist assessment, a review of your medical history and screening blood tests. The treatment is only offered if the condition is deemed suitable - and you should know that not everyone experiences the effect of the treatment.

The most frequent side effects of the treatment are mild. They may include redness or itching at the injection site, a slight feeling of fever without actual fever, and transient headache, typically for one day.

Re-Mind is offered as a medical supplement to your other treatment and rehabilitation. If you want to know more, you can attend one of the information meetings held by Neurologic Recovery Clinics.
