The path to the treatment
In the autumn of 2024, Tina decided to try the Re-Mind treatment. The process began with a conversation with a doctor and a series of blood tests. She talks about the process:
"I had an interview with the associated doctor, who was able to answer all my questions and gave a thorough review of the process. A week and 14 blood tests later, I sat skeptically in the chair at the clinic. I got my injection and was turned upside down."
The time after the treatment
Tina herself describes the days and the time after the treatment:
"The following days I had side effects that reminded me of the flu, but I could feel that everything had improved. For the first time in 14 months, I was able to hold long conversations and social gatherings. I took it upon myself to turn up the music, which I have not been able to stand listening to throughout the process."
About her overall experience she says:
"I am so happy, it is the best money I have have used in my life."
Tina says that she hopes that her story can reach others:
"I am so grateful that Neurologic Recovery Clinics has made it possible to get the treatment in Denmark, and I hope that my story will help reach everyone who is affected by a concussion."
How the Re-Mind treatment works
Re-Mind is a medical treatment aimed at neuroinflammation – an inflammatory condition that can occur in the brain after, among other things, a concussion, a traumatic brain injury, a blood clot or bleeding in the brain or covid-19. The treatment is offered by Rehab-Partner | Neurologic Recovery Clinics and is supervised by the clinic's neurologist, Güven Gürbüz, specialist in neurology. He explains the background to the treatment:
"When you have had a concussion, the blood-brain barrier that normally protects the brain can become leaky. This can trigger a long-term inflammatory state in the brain, which we call neuroinflammation. Symptoms such as persistent headaches and sensitivity to sound and social interaction - such as those described by Tina - are common when neuroinflammation is present. The Re-Mind treatment is aimed at reducing this inflammation. It is important to emphasize, that patients do not respond the same to the treatment, and that the effect depends, among other things, on how much of the symptoms is due to inflammation and how much is due to the injury itself."
The treatment is off-label. This means that an approved medicine is used for a purpose other than that for which the medicine was originally approved. All patients receive information about this and give informed consent.
You must know this before a treatment
Before a Re-Mind treatment, you undergo a mandatory specialist assessment, a review of your medical history and screening blood tests. The treatment is only offered if the condition is deemed suitable, and not everyone experiences an effect from the treatment.
The most frequent side effects of the treatment are mild. They may include redness or itching at the injection site, a slight feeling of fever without actual fever, and transient headache, typically for one day.
Re-Mind is offered as a medical supplement to the other treatment and rehabilitation. If you want to know more, you can attend one of the information meetings held by Neurologic Recovery Clinics.
